Media Center Policies

Visiting the Media Center

Students may visit the Media Center before and after school, as well as throughout the day!  Teachers may bring their classes down for checkouts and to use the Media Center's resources, or students may use a pass during school hours (7:45 - 3:05).

All students who visit the Media Center on a pass (without their teacher present) must sign in!  There is a table right inside the Media Center doors for signing in.  Students who need to use a computer should visit the circulation desk to sign up for one.

Checkouts and Renewals

Books and audio materials (CDs and Playaways) circulate for three weeks at a time.  Magazines circulate for one week at a time.  Students may renew materials one time.  To renew, students should see a helper (student or parent volunteer) at the circulation desk.

Returns

Students may return materials to the Media Center at any time.  Simply stop by the hallway book drop or the return slot on the side of the circulation desk at any time.  The library staff will take it from there!

Holds

Students may place a hold on a title - just stop by the circulation desk and Ms. Worthman or one of her student helpers will assist you!  When a hold is ready, a notice is sent to the student's Language Arts or Humanities class.  It is then the responsibility of the STUDENT to stop by the Media Center to check out his or her book.

Overdue Items

Students with overdue items are not allowed to check out any more materials until the overdue is resolved. Overdue notices will be e-mailed home weekly. If you receive a notice for an item that has been returned, please see Mrs. Sauer or e-mail her.

ID Cards

Replacement ID cards are printed once every morning in Media Center. The cost is $5.  Students who request an ID after 10:00 will need to pick up their ID the following morning.

Meet the Media Specialist - Mrs. Sauer

This is my sixth year as the Media Specialist here at CMS!  I was recently married, so you may know me as Ms. Worthman.

I have an MLS (Masters of Library Science) degree from Indiana University - Indianapolis and a Bachelors degree in Sociology from DePauw University.  I also coach the 7th grade Cougar softball team and co-sponsor the Book Club.  I am looking forward to another great year!
