Summer Edition

Dear Creekside Families,
We are very excited for the new school year at Creekside Middle School.  I am looking forward to building on the previous excellence already established.  I want to personally welcome our new families and sixth grade students to Creekside.  On behalf of the faculty and staff, I would like to say we are eager for a successful year working with you and your child.
With this being my first year at Creekside, I look forward to getting to know the students, staff members, and families.  I will do my very best to make a personal connection with each student.  Please have your son or daughter come up and say hello during the first few weeks of school.  I will be present during the upcoming registration days if you have time to say hello.   Please feel free to reach out to me or a front office member if you have questions regarding the start of the school year. 
I am excited to learn about all the great things that go on at Creekside Middle School this year.  If I can ever be of assistance to you or your child in any manner, please let me know.  As people have said to me over the last two weeks, “Welcome to the Creek,” I say the same to you.

Another school year is almost upon us and our hope is that you are all having a wonderful summer.  We look forward to seeing you in August at registration and hope you will be available to help.  Please read the information below and should you have any questions, please feel free to email me at trishmull32@gmail.com.


Tuesday, August 15 is the first day of school which is only 4 weeks away.  And when school starts, so does the PTO.  As we do every year, the PTO helps man the registration tables during the 3 registration periods in August. 

At registration, information stations will be set up in the cafeteria and north gym.  Volunteers will man these stations to help hand out the student’s schedules and guide them through the registration process. 

Remember to bring multiple checks or cash as the school does not have the capacity to accept credit cards. 

The registration periods are as follows:
        Tuesday, August 8:  8:00 – 11:30 and 1:00 – 3:00 6th Grade Only
        Thursday, August 10: 8:00 – 11:30 and 1:00 – 3:00 7th and 8th Grade
        Monday, August 14: 3:00 – 6:00 All Grades

Each year, Creekside students participate in the Red Apple fundraiser.  This fundraiser raises over $25,000 for the PTO.  This covers about 2/3 of the operating budget.  Obviously, this is a lot of money and although many people do not like the idea of selling the Red Apple items, it is imperative that we hold this fundraiser.

However, we are offering another alternative to this fundraiser.  If you are interested in opting out of the Red Apple fundraiser, we are asking for a $50 donation for one child and $75 for two or more.  This donation will be 100% tax deductible.

In addition, should you decide to go this way, you will be entered into a raffle for a Brand New, Factory Sealed 16 GB iPad Air 2.  You have to donate at least $50 in order to be entered.

There are a number of different ways to help the Creekside PTO financially.  Each way is as important as the other.  Please take a moment to look over this list and where action is needed, please sign up. Click on the BROWN links to take you to the websites.

Kroger: Community Rewards . We are currently signing up for this new program.  As soon as it is active, we will notify the school.

TARGET:  Please register your RED cards at your local Target stores. This store alone can bring up to $5,000 a year to Creekside.

BOXTOPS: Just as you did in elementary school, just save the BoxTops and return them to the school.  There is a box in the front office where you or your students can drop them off.


We are so thankful for all of our volunteers.  As we have said over and over again, we cannot do it without you.  Please look over the list of committees available and if you are interested, please click here to submit your choices.

General:  If your time is limited, we will contact you as opportunities present themselves.

Book Fair: Chair or volunteer for the Book Fair which is typically held in the Media Center in November.

Book Store: Chair or volunteer in the Book Store a few times each month.  The chair will coordinate the volunteers via a Sign Up Genius each month.

8th Grade Celebration: Volunteer to help coordinate and chaperone the 8th grade party on May TBD.

Cultural Fair: Held every other year, this event celebrates the multicultural community of Creekside. Most likely held February or March of 2018.

Hospitality: Volunteer to help provide food for meetings throughout the year.  Meetings include: Staff Meetings, Guidance Counselor Events, Principal Meetings, Appreciation Days (Teacher, Bus, Staff etc.)

Media Center:  Volunteer in the Media Center a few times each month.  The Media Specialist will provide a Sign Up Genius each month.


As always, we thank you for your time, donations and support.  Everything we do is for our kids and for Creekside. Without your help and support it is an impossible task.  Please consider signing up for registration next month and for some of the committees that work throughout the year. 

One thing I do want to mention, if you should decide to opt out of the Red Apple fundraiser, your student will still bring home a fundraising packet.  Please disregard it (or if you want, you can still sell:-))
