The Cherry Tree Elementary Library Media Center serves students and staff with a collection of 26,000 books, videos, DVDs, magazines, audio books, and equipment.
We are a school of students who love to read. We checked out about an average of 6,600 books per month. All students come to the media center at least once a each week with their classes, but we also have a policy of open access during the hours of 8:25 a.m. - 2:45 p.m. which enables students to visit the media center to do research or checkout books. Students in grades 2nd 3rd, 4th, and 5th receive their own library cards and may use the Self Checkout Stations at their convenience.
The media center includes an instructional area with a SMARTboard and CPS system, NEW MakerSpace, comfy chairs and various table groupings for small group work. Comfy chairs and pillows invite students to read and relax throughout the media center. There are two computer lab each with 33 desktop computers is adjacent to the media center and there are now two mobile lab of 16 laptops and 3 mobile labs of 16 mini laptops available for classroom use.
