Executive Board Opportunities
The PTO Executive Board is comprised of elected officers. The Executive Board meets one morning per month to conduct PTO business. General meetings for the entire school are scheduled every other month.
PTO BOARD POSITIONS
PRESIDENT – Serve as leader and key contact for the PTO; preside at all PTO meetings; ex-officio member of most committees; appoint chairpersons for special committees; serve on the coordinating council, coordinate the work of the officers and committees so that the PTO’s objectives can be met. (Effort: year-round, on-going)
VICE PRESIDENT - Act as an aide to the President; perform the duties of the President in the absence or inability of that officer to serve; assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Board; serve on the coordinating council. This is a two-year commitment as you will serve as President the following year. (Effort: year-round, time varies depending upon roles)
RECORDING SECRETARY - Shall be the custodian of the papers, books, and records of the Organization, except for the books of the Treasurer, keep an accurate record of all the meetings of the Executive Board, publish the minutes of the Organization and make them available for members, and perform such duties as the Executive Board or the President may specify. (Effort: 3-4 hours per month, includes attending meeting and typing up minutes)
CORRESPONDING SECRETARY - Shall handle all correspondence deemed necessary by the Executive Board and the Organization, social media outlets, communication to CWE families, and perform such other duties as the Executive Board or the President may specify. (Effort: 3-4 hours per month)
TREASURER - Be responsible for and have custody of all funds; make disbursements as properly authorized; be present at all PTO events where money will be collected; assure that PTO policies and best practices are followed with regards to funds; prepare financial reports for each meeting and as needed; prepare the books for an annual audit; and train the assistant treasurer. (Effort: 9-10 hours per month, average)
ASSISTANT TREASURER – Perform such duties as may be assigned by the Executive Board or the President, in the absence or disability of the Treasurer, the Treasurer shall succeed to the office of Treasurer following their term as Assistant Treasurer. Ideally – is willing to serve as Treasurer in the future. (Effort: 4-5 hours per month, average)
SCHOOL BOARD REPRESENTATIVE – represent College Wood Elementary at all regularly scheduled meetings of the CCS School Board and report any pertinent information back to the Executive Board. Working with the Executive Board, will determine what information from School Board meetings should be shared with College Wood families and will ensure that information is publicized. (Effort: 2-4 hours per month).
