Temporary Non-Resident Cash Tuition Students

 

Students may be enrolled on a temporary non-resident basis, provided the parents and/or legal guardians show evidence of intent to establish a residence within the Carmel Clay School Corporation boundaries within ninety (90) calendar days.

Each temporary non-resident cash tuition student will receive thirty (30) student attendance days without the payment of cash tuition.

The cash tuition fees due will be based upon an estimate of the per capita operating cost as determined by the business department. Refunds and/or additional charges will be made as required after the completion of the current fiscal year.  It is understood that tuition charges will continue until the business manager is notified in writing by the applicant that the residency has been assumed.

  • "Temporary" is defined as a condition where the parents and/or legal guardians now living outside the Corporation show evidence of intent to establish a residence within the School Corporation within ninety (90) calendar days.  Such evidence shall consist of a signed purchase agreement of a home, a signed construction agreement of a home, and/or a rental lease agreement of a home. Other evidence may be accepted by the Superintendent at his/her discretion.
  • "Nonresident student" is defined as an individual whose parents and/or legal guardians reside outside the legal boundaries of the School Corporation.
  • "Cash-tuition student" is defined as an individual whose parents and/or legal guardians pay tuition charges enabling the individual to attend Corporation schools.

An application form must be completed by the parents, and/or legal guardians at the building level.  Approval of the building principal and the Superintendent is required before a student may be enrolled on a temporary non-resident cash tuition basis.  

At the completion of twenty-seven (27) days of student attendance, and when the residency is not to be assumed by the end of the thirty (30) days, the cash tuition fee is payable to the business office.  This shall be in advance for the entire school year provided that forty-five (45) student attendance days for that school year have elapsed. If less than forty-five (45) days have elapsed, the tuition shall be payable in advance up to the end of the first semester and then in advance for the second semester.

It is understood that cash tuition fees shall be based upon an estimate of the per capita operating cost as determined by the business department. Cash tuition charges shall continue until the business manager is notified in writing by the applicant that the residency has been assumed. When residency requirements have been met and documentation provided to the Office of the Director of Student Services, refunds shall be distributed. 

Proof of residency documentation shall consist of a rental agreement, purchase agreement or closing documents, deed AND a utility (electric and/or gas) statement.
