Asst Principal

Assistant Principal

Welcome to Smoky Row for the 2016-2017 school year!  I am thrilled to be a part of such an amazing group of staff, students, and families.  We have so many wonderful things that go on here each day, from small group instruction to after school clubs, from tutoring to mentoring, from technology to art...  It is a true joy to be surrounded by such dedicated teachers every day as well as a group of smiling, joyful students happy to be here.

At Smoky Row, my job entails many different aspects.  Three major responsibilites are the Response to Intervention Program, the English as a New Language program, and School Safety.  Please see below for more information on these three programs.  In addition, I am an advocate for all of our students and am happy to be a point of communication for every student, teacher, and parent.  Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!  Have a great school year!

Sincerely,

Amy Satkoski

Response to Intervention

Response to Intervention (RTI) is a framework for prevention and early intervention which involves determining whether all students are learning and progressing adequately when provided with high quality instruction and intervention.  At Smoky Row, we implement RTI programs to promote academic, social-emotional, and behavioral success.  For more information about RTI, take a moment to look at the reference guide below.

Vision of RTI

ENL

The Carmel Clay Schools English as a New Language (ENL) program is committed to educational excellence and continuous achievement for all English language learners.

The ENL program at Carmel Clay Schools serves over 500 students. Here at Smoky Row, our program serves over 30 students with varying levels of support.

The goal of the ENL program is to raise the English proficiency of all students of Limited English Proficiency (LEP) to that of native English speakers at their respective grade levels. Once a student becomes fluent in both basic communication skills as well as academic language, the student is exited from the program.

School Safety

In Carmel Clay Schools, safety of students and adults is our top priority.  I'm proud to be a certified School Safety Specialist, and the SRE team is working every day to make sure everyone in our building is safe at all times.  Each year we hold numerous safety drills, including weather emergency, fire, earthquake, and lockdown drills.  These drills help our students and staff be prepared and ready to respond in any emergency situation.  Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions or concerns regarding safety. We are always open to suggestions on how to improve the security of Smoky Row.
