Hello! My name is Alyssa Swart. This is my 15th year teaching at Prairie Trace and I am looking forward to a great year! I am so excited to be teaching second grade!
I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself. I have been teaching here at Prairie Trace since December, 2001.
I was born and raised in Noblesville, which is where I still live with my husband and our children: Carter, Caidence, and Cooper. Carter is ten, Caidey is nine, and Cooper is four years old. They keep me busy and I just love watching them learn and grow! I am also very excited to be able to see Carter and Caidey at Prairie Trace everyday, they are in fourth and fifth grade. My husband is also a teacher and he teaches social studies at Noblesville High School. I love spending time with my family (which would not be complete without our cats: Clark and Eddie) and friends. I enjoy watching Carter's hockey games (especially his travel team games!) and baseball games, Caidey's dance competitions and her cheerleading, and watching Cooper grow. Cooper also tried T-ball for the first time recently and really enjoyed being a part of a team! Cooper is content to play with ANYTHING that has wheels, so I am often watching him play with toy cars! Four year olds are so much fun! I also enjoy reading, vactioning (I absolutely LOVE all things Disney!), and watching my kids do what they love!
I am so excited about teaching 2nd grade! This is an exciting grade level because we will be focusing heavily on organizational skills which are essential as your child continues his/her education. We will read some really great stories, do some very neat science and social studies activities, learn cursive writing and much much more! We'll learn about communities, butterflies, measurement, and work more with addition and subtraction as well as begin multiplying and dividing.
I love working with children and will strive to make each child's learning experience positive. I am looking forward to working with you and your child this year. I know that by all working together this is going to be a successful year!
