Meet Mrs. Swart!

Hello!  My name is Alyssa Swart.  This is my 16th year teaching at Prairie Trace and I am looking forward to a great year!  I am so excited to be teaching second grade!

I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself.  I have been teaching here at Prairie Trace since December, 2001.

I was born and raised in Noblesville, which is where I still live with my husband and our children: Carter, Caidence, and Cooper.  Carter is 11, Caidey is 10, and Cooper is 5 years old.  They keep me busy and I just love watching them learn and grow! Carter is off on a brand new adventure this year.  Ater attending Prairie Trace K-5, he is going to middle school in our home district of Noblesville this year.  I am also very excited to be able to see Caidey at Prairie Trace everyday, she is in fifth grade.  Cooper is enjoying pre-K over at Clay Middle School's Edu-Care program.  My husband is also a teacher and is the Social Studies Department Chair at Noblesville High School.  I love spending time with my family (which would not be complete without our cats:  Clark and Eddie) and friends.  I enjoy watching Carter's travel hockey games  and baseball games as well as Caidey's dance competitions.  Cooper tried T-ball for the first time recently and really enjoyed being a part of a team!  Cooper is content to play with ANYTHING that has wheels, so I am often watching him play with toy cars!  Five year olds are so much fun!  I also enjoy reading, vactioning (I absolutely LOVE all things Disney!), and watching my kids do what they love!

I am so excited about teaching 2nd grade!  This is an exciting grade level because we will be focusing heavily on organizational skills which are essential as your child continues his/her education.  We will read some really great stories, do some very neat science and social studies activities, learn cursive writing and much much more!  We'll learn about communities, butterflies, measurement, and work more with addition and subtraction as well as begin multiplying and dividing.

I love working with children and will strive to make each child's learning experience positive.  I am looking forward to working with you and your child this year.  I know that by all working together this is going to be a successful year!
