This is my 16th year teaching at CMS. I love middle school and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else! My husband and I live in Lebanon but I grew up in Connecticut. We have 3 adult children. All are graduates of great Indiana institutions of higher learning: DePauw University, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, and Valparaiso University. I try to spend time each summer learning new ideas to add to my curriculum. It could be a week studying invasive species at the Indiana Dunes or a day at Cool Creek Park learning about birds. Experiential learning is my favorite. I have been fortunate to have some amazing science experiences thanks to my friends and co-workers at CMS. Below are blogs from some of my “Summer Science Adventures”:
In 2009, I was a NOAA Teacher at Sea in the Arctic for 41 days.
In 2010, I sailed with the EPA learning about Lake Michigan.
In 2011, I used a Lilly Teacher Creativity Fellowship to learn about hummingbirds locally and globally.
