STEM Course Description



Course Description

In the STEM Lab class
students will be learning about STEM through the 11 Paxton ActionLABS and
Health Science Careers program. This Program offers 10 days of instruction in
each of 16 Integrated Instructional Units offered at Clay Middle School. During
class the students will learn through contemporary curriculum of technological
content and scientific inquiry. Students will be exposed to a variety of
real world concepts with a focus on technology. Students will develop knowledge
and skills using multimedia and hands-on activities. In addition students will
also learn if their interests and aptitudes are suited for a wide range of
technology-based careers. 

Also, students will
learn the Technological Design Process (TDP) and work on various real world
problems to develop creative problem solving skills. During this
project/problem based learning portion of the class students will develop and
strengthen knowledge and skills learned throughout their Paxton Modules.
Collaboration will be a skill reinforced as well through group and partner
exercises. At the end of each projects student will have to present their
solutions to the class.
