I have been teaching at Forest Dale since 1995. I grew up in New Albany, Indiana, and graduated from New Albany High School. I graduated from Butler University with a degree in Music Education. After student teaching at Orchard Park Elementary, I began my teaching career here at Forest Dale. I have enjoyed helping many students make music. My favorite things about Forest Dale are the great students and wonderful staff.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family. My husband, Sean is the manager of maintenance control for Shuttle America Airlines. Our daughter, Hallie is a freshman at Fishers High School. Our son, Hayden is in fifth grade at Sand Creek Intermediate. We have a Scottish Terrier named Arby. Our family enjoys going to Walt Disney World and traveling. I also enjoy singing in my church choir, playing the piano, spending time with friends and watching the Colts!
In the summers of 2006 - 2008, I was certified in the Kodaly Method of music education at Indiana University. This method emphasizes the sequential learning of solfege, rhythms and musical concepts through folk songs and singing games. In the summers of 2011 and 2014 I completed the first and second levels of Orff instruction. The Orff philosophy emphasizes speech, singing, movement, improvisation and composition. I have really enjoyed applying what I learned in the classroom.
