I am starting my 9th year of classroom teaching. However, I've spent most of my life in education in positions ranging from interventist to AVID tutor to instructional assistant to substitute teacher. This is my sixth year at Creekside Middle School and I love teaching 7th graders!
I grew up in Anderson, IN and graduated from Highland High School. I went on to Anderson University where I earned my secondary education degree with additional certification specifically for middle school. I earned my M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction with a concentration in Teacher Leadership through Concordia University - Portland this past July. I have taught both middle and high school, but my heart has always been in middle school.
My husband is retired from the U.S. Air Force so we have lived many places in the United States and Europe. Living abroad gives me unique insight into the cultures of other parts of the world. This is even true about little things that we do not even think about as being normal to us but not necessarily in another country. I have two children -- Nick is a junior at Carmel High School and Katy is a freshman. We enjoy camping, traveling, and making memories as a family. I also enjoy reading, cooking, and biking.
The beginning of the school year has ALWAYS felt like the new year to me even though the calendar says the new year starts on January 1. I am excited to begin our "travels" around Asia, Africa, and the SW Pacific with each student this year!
Please contact me whenever you have questions or concerns. I look forward to working with you!
