Whether your son or daughter is in Kindergarten just learning how to skip, in 5th grade throwing 75 mph fastballs, or anywhere in between, this school year is going to be awesome!

Each 1st- 5th grade student will have PE class with me once a week for 50 minutes, and Kindergarteners will have PE twice a week for 25 minutes at a time.  It is imperative that your child is wearing proper PE shoes.  This includes pretty much any type of tennis shoe and excludes boots, sandals, or Crocs.

The vision for elementary physical education in Carmel Clay Schools is “To facilitate the development of skills and knowledge necessary to maintain a physically active lifestyle through a fitness-based curriculum.” Therefore, my ultimate goal is to provide a safe and fun environment in which all students will learn to love being physically active, grow socially, and learn how to work with teammates and friends. I truly believe that exercise habits developed by young children will stay with them through their adolescent years and into adulthood. If they enjoy being active now, it will help them remain active in the future, thus leading to a healthy and happy life.

Students will be assessed primarily on two things: gross motor abilities (throwing, catching, locomotor movements, etc.) and components of teamwork (being a good friend, sharing, working together, etc.). Please understand that it is not my intention to turn anyone into a professional athlete, bodybuilder, or gold medal Olympian-- I just want my students to grow, learn, and have fun on the path towards becoming healthier and enjoying physical fitness.

Each student will receive an assessment grade at the end of each semester.  Please don't ever hesitate to contact me.  Email me at  I'm new to this Twitter-thing, but you can also follow me at @MTE_PE.
