Welcome to second grade! I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to be your teacher this year!
My interest in teaching all began when I was little. I was probably a second grader. Growing up, I loved to play school. I was always surrounded by children both older and younger than myself. On my mom's side of the family, my grandma owned a daycare. And my dad has twelve brothers and sisters. Needless to say, I was truly always around children! As I grew older, my family moved away from my relatives in Illinois, but my passion for teaching continued.
In May 2006, I graduated from Indiana University after completing my student teaching experience at College Wood Elementary and overseas in Surrey, England near London. My overseas experience has heightened my desire to travel. I want to go everywhere! Several summers ago I took my dream vacation to Italy. I can't wait for my next traveling adventure!
For the last seven years, I taught second grade at West Clay. Previously, I was a first grade teacher here at West Clay. I have also worked at Towne Meadow Elementary in a second grade classroom and as a remediation instructional assistant.
Outside of school I enjoy reading, baking/eating chocolate desserts (YUMMY!), going on walks, and shopping. Besides these activities, I love to spend time with my family and friends. In June 2007, I married my high school sweetheart, Nick, whom I love dearly! In May 2012, we welcomed our son, William. In February 2015, Charles joined our family. I love being with my boys!
I am looking forward to getting to know you and your family this year!
