I have taught in the field of gifted education since 1991. I taught 6 years in the gifted program in Pike Township in Northwest Indianapolis and have taught the 2/3 Challenge class at Woodbrook since coming to Carmel Clay Schools.
I have used my expertise in Language Arts to maximize students' writing and reading development. Using reading strategy lessons, rich literature, and discussion groups allows students to develop and establish meaningful routines in their learning. I encourage the integrated use of technology and allow students to pursue their individual strengths.
I have four terrific children, and I enjoy many family activities. My oldest boys, Jacob and Josh, are seniors in college and have a passion for long distance running and music. Jacob attends Wheaton College in Illinois majoring in social studies education, and Josh attends Taylor University here in Indiana and is an English education major. My daughter, Kaitlin, is a freshman at Taylor University and is an elementary education major. My youngest son, Caleb, is a freshman at Carmel High School and enjoys wrestling and choir. I enjoy teaching here at Woodbrook with my husband, Jay, who is the 4/5 challenge teacher!
In my free time, I can be found reading in the hammock or enjoying a walk with our dog. I also enjoy swimming, tennis, music, and family vacations. My favorite thing to do is to spend time with my family and support them in their many activities. I love warm weather and sunshine and will spend a great deal of time outdoors.
