Child Development is a course designed to inform you about the development of young children and the process of parenting. This course allows you to investigate the readiness components of parenting such as family stability,physical health, emotional maturity, and economic status. You will study conception, prenatal development and the birth process. The physical,emotional, social, intellectual and moral development from birth through preschool is studied. Issues such as discipline, meeting physical needs, stages of development, creative play, children’s literature, child abuse/neglect,divorce, illness and meeting the special needs of children are areas that the course explores. You will have the opportunity to work individually, with partners and/or on teams when completing class assignments and projects.
