GETTING TO KNOW YOU AND ME.

STUDENTS WILL BE WORKING IN SMALL GROUPS AND LEARNING NAMES AND INTEREST OF STUDENTS.

What is Health?

What is the Triangle of Health?  Physical, Mental/Emotional and Social.

How does the student relate to each area of the Health Triangle?  What does Physical mean to you?

How do you show or express your mental/emotional needs?

How do you show Social Health?

 

Sack Attack- Bring in 4 items to fill in the lunch sack that I gave students to share with classmates. Getting to know your student.  These items will help with their major project in identify them and classifying them under, Physical, Mental/emotional, and Social Health.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

March 13-15-17 Family Fire Evacuation Plan.

Students will receive a Rubric for this project.  A possible 25 points.

 January 2017

For the entire month of January we will be in Health class until January 31, 2017.  Students will be using the "Life Skills" series that will cover 14 different topics.  Each topic will be discussed with interactive activities to reinforce subject material.  Time will be given in class to complete worksheets and work in small groups with Power Point slides for classroom discussions.

 

 

 

Week of November 14-18, 2016

Monday-Red Day Volleyball Rotation-Spikeball-Mulitpurpose Gym, Hallway-Jump Ropes, South Gym-Volleyball basics.  Set and Bump.

Tuesday & Wednesday-Blue/Red Day-Walk and Talk,-SuperHero Work Out, Volleyball Serving, Volleyball Newkom, JumpRopes/Hallway Drills.

Thursday & Friday-Heart Rate Monitors,

Week of November 7-11, 2016

STUDENTS WILL NEED FITNESS STRAP FOR WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY

Monday and Tuesday-First Day back in the South Gym.  Dress out. 

Walk and Talk until class starts.  Cardio Run around the Baseball and Softball Fields. 2 Laps.

3 Rotations.

A.  South Gym Volleyball Basic Skills-Working with a Partner

B.  Fitness Room-Pick and Choose 3-4 activities  from the Fitness Board.

C.  Multipurpose Gym-Super Hero Tag/Fitness Components

Wednesday and Thursday-Students will need their Fitness Strap.  Students will be learning how to use the Polar Watches.  Understanding how the watch works and how the watch measures the activity of their heart.

Planning Family Meal and $25 Budget-Bell Work

Finishing up "MyPlate" Project 40 points due by November 10

My website is linked to Mrs. Berju's Health Page.  Refer to her website to see handouts and Power Point Presentations in class.  ALL 6th grade Wellness teachers are covering the same material and use the same handouts for projects.  Each class will be covering the same information but have different techniques in covering the information.

Health Class

Serving Sizes-Understanding measurements, quantity and estimation of serving sizes.

Reading "Nutritional Facts"-Learning to read food labels. 

How many calories?  How much Sodium?  How much Sugar? etc.

Hand out of Rubric for the "MYPLATE" project.  Time will be given in class to work on project.

First Day-

Getting ready for the Cat Race! Jog around the Southside of School-approximately half mile.

Fitness Activity -Alphabet Fitness- Work with a Partner

Capture the Flag

Cat Race Information Passed Out to Students-Competition between 6th grade classes.  The Class with the MOST PEOPLE OR FAMILIES SIGNED UP WINS A PRIZE!

Second Day-

Baseline on Fitness for Fitnessgram

Students will be doing Push-ups and Curl-ups for a baseline.

Rec.Games Youshi and or Line Soccer

 

 

 

 

Week of August 28-Sept. 2

Students will be getting their gym uniforms and lockers.  First day will be day of getting the students adjusted to the schedule and the rules in Wellness. Students will receive their gym uniform and fitness strap.  Names should be put on the uniform as soon as the student receives it.

Introduce the Health Project- 40 point Rubric given to students for students and parents to know how the project will be graded.

Discussion  and Work Time for Projects

I have construction paper, glue, scissors and yarn to bind books together.

Projects will be due Wednesday August 24 or Thursday August 25

Uniforms will be passed out on Monday August 29 and Tuesday August 30
