Wow! This will be my 23rd year teaching at College Wood! Am I really that old...I mean, experienced? I graduated from Ball State University where I received a BA in Elementary Education. I also hold a Master’s degree in Special Education & Learning Disabilities from I.U. I have either taught fourth or fifth grade; I love their maturity and enjoy the curriculum at this level.
I am married and have been blessed with three children. Our 14 1/2 year old daughter, Hannah, is entering her first year at the high school and has long surpassed me in height. Our son, Wyatt, is 10 1/2 years old and full of energy, curiosity, and personality. He is also a 5th grader this year at CW! Our second daughter, Stella, will be 7 this September and a 1st grader here. My husband, Tom, is an avid outdoorsman and keeps himself busy as a Warranty Manager for Drees Homes. Our family is completed by Waylon, our "slightly" active English Pointer.
When I'm not in the classroom, I look forward to Starbuck's coffee, Handel's ice-cream, eating out, listening and singing along to music, exercising in Zumba class and running, reading, landscaping, and watching the birds in my backyard (especially the beautiful Cardinals!)
I am very passionate about my profession and put my heart and a little bit of humor into each day. I am hopeful that your child will enjoy FIFTH grade as a confident individual who believes that she/he is capable, needed, and cared for. Thank you for sharing your child with me.
