Hello! My name is Maggie Bailey. I am a fifth year member of the Cherry Tree Elementary staff. This year I am thrilled and very grateful that you are sharing your child with me.
I am a graduate of Indiana State University, GO SYCAMORES! Through my last semesters of course work at ISU, I completed the T.O.T.A.L. (Teachers of Tomorrow Advancing Learning) internship as well as a Teacher Work Sample inclusive of extensive assessment driven data on student achievement. During T.O.T.A.L. I completed over 350 hours in the field at Sugar Grove Elementary of the Vigo County Schools district. Throughout my student teaching experience I was very lucky to become a part of our amazing Carmel Clay Schools district at Carmel Elementary. There I collaboratively taught for eight weeks with Mrs. Judy Schwartz in second grade and another eight weeks with Mrs. Liz Thiel in fifth grade. My time at Carmel Elementary as well as my family ties here in Carmel made me fall in love with this community and now I am happy to call it home.
I was born in Vincennes, Indiana, Indiana's city of living history and home of the New Year's Eve Watermelon Drop. I have two sister's Zoey, 35 and Lanie, 25. My niece Shaye, and nephew, Landon, are two of my favorite hobbies. Family is very important to me and I hope to stay very connected with yours. Another hobby of mine is running. The past two falls I participated in my the 2013 and 2014 Chicago marathons! My goal is to regain the discipline and start training again this year as my puppy, Fern, has kept me happily occupied this summer. She is a preciously spunky "Retroodle" as she is a mix between a Golden Retriever and Poodle (since she is not golden Goldendoodle doesn't quite fit her). I also love a good thrill! Last summer I realized that I LOVE skydiving as I went for the first time with my sister, Lanie and again this summer! I pulled my own shoot this time! I can officially read an altimeter.
Education has always been my passion. I look forward to having a great school year as I learn all over again through the eyes of my 25 new third graders!
