Hi my name is Mary Denner. I am looking forward to spending this year with your child and getting to know your family!!
Just a little bit about my family...My husband, Kurt, and I are the very proud parents of Amy. A few years ago, we began a new chapter in our lives as we sent Amy off to college to study nursing and Spanish. Thankfully Amy adjusted very quickly...mom and dad eventually adjusted, though it seemed to take us a bit longer. This fall, Amy will be a senior and she is very excited about the clinical rotations during her final year.
My husband and I both tend to stay busy with our work schedules...and visiting Amy whenever possible. :) When we have some free time, our family enjoys traveling, riding our bikes on the Monon Trail, and spending time with the other family member...our miniature poodle, Bentley.
I was born and raised in Michigan, but I have had the opportunity to live in several other states including Colorado, California, Illinois, and New York. I am so thankful that we have been able to call Indiana our home for the past 18+ years.
I have been very fortunate to have had a variety of educational experiences, both as a student and a teacher. I have an undergraduate degree from Western Michigan University, a Master's degree from Northern Illinois University, and an additional special education certification from Ball State University. I began working in Carmel Clay Schools at Forest Dale Elementary where I worked as an instructional assistant, a teacher of special education, and a kindergarten teacher. I have also taught in the Head Start Program, in a preschool program for at-risk children, and in a local preschool. I have been a tutor for a private tutoring company and taught religious education classes (4 yr. olds- Grade 2) through our church.
I am really looking forward to meeting your family and a terrific school year! I know we will have a great time as we explore, learn and grow together. Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have any questions or concerns.
