Hello! My name is Melissa Grzeskowiak, (Mrs.G) is much easier! I am happy to be at Smoky Row again this year. I am from Carmel, and attended Woodbrook, Clay Middle, and Carmel High School. Upon graduation from Carmel, I went to Ball State University, where I received my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education. I also attended Butler University where I began work on my Masters. My first teaching experience was at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic School in Indianapolis, where I taught fourth and fifth grades for five years. When my first child, Emily, was born I decided to stay at home with my children.
I live in Carmel with my husband Chris, who works at Fifth/Third Bank in the Commercial Real Estate division, and our three children. Emily is a Sophomore at IU, Ashley is a Senior at Carmel High School, and Christopher is a Freshman at Carmel High School We also have a Golden Retriever named Ellie. This will be my 7th year at Smoky Row, and my 6th year in 2nd grade. During the 2008-2009 school year I was the 4/5 Challenge Class teacher at Carmel Elementary.
During my classroom hiatus I volunteered at my childrens' school and with the Christamore House Guild. I also tutored children, focusing in Language Arts.
During my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, running, yoga, biking, or reading. On weekends you will find us at the softball field, basketball court, or baseball field. As a family we enjoy traveling, especially to warm, tropical places!
