Meet Mrs. Lowstetter
This is my 8th year at Smoky Row. I work with students in kindergarten through third grade. I enjoy these ages because of their receptiveness, personalities, and their refreshing point of view on the world. I grew up in a small town in Ohio and received my Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree from the University of Dayton. After graduating with my undergraduate degree I worked three years as a special education teacher for at-risk high school students.
My husband Matt and I moved to Indianapolis for his job in 2006. We live in Indianapolis with our son, Knox and our English Bulldog Stella. I enjoy spending time with my friends, reading a good book, and being creative through baking and cooking.
Meet Mrs. Hockersmith
I am in my 10th year of teaching at Smoky Row, prior to that I taught for 5 years at Mohawk Trails Elementary. My teaching career began by working as an aide in Resource at Carmel High School for 3 years. I grew up in Bloomington, Indiana with my parents and 2 sisters, and went to IU Bloomington for my first degree in Human Resources. After working in HR for a time, I stayed home for several years with my children after they were born, then went back to school at IUPUI to receive my teaching certification in Special Education. My son Paul is an IU graduate and currently in graduate school at Geogia Tech studying computer science. My daughter Lizzy is a junior at Ball State University, studying advertising. My step-daughters, Kate and Galinna attend Whiteland High School and enjoy art, swimming and history. My step-son Matt has 3 adorable children, making Mike and I proud grandparents. Our house is busy, messy and loud, but we love it! I absolutely love teaching at Smoky Row and enjoy spending every day with wonderful children, families and co-workers. In my time away from work I enjoy spending time with my wonderful husband Mike, traveling, flower gardening, going to museums listening to live music, and watching football.
