Chapters 14-15 The Constitution and The Bill of Rights

The Constitution - Understand and give details about the following topics:

·       Articles of Confederation

·       Shays’ Rebellion

·       Constitutional Convention

·       Great Compromise

·       The three branches of government and their duties

Students must understand and be able to explain how the branches of government work together for many duties. (See Interactive Notebook p. 81, recall Power Card activity from class.)

The Bill of Rights

·       Name basic rights provided by the Bill of Rights (Amendments 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8 studied specifically)

Students must explain the importance of the Bill of Rights, understand how the amendments were a reaction to British rule, and describe other rights that should be included in the Bill of Rights.
