Although a native Hoosier--born and raised in Bloomington, Indiana--Mrs. Nickless attended Northern Arizona University where she earned her B.S. in Special Education/Early Childhood Education. After teaching in Arizona and Nevada, she was ready to be "Back Home in Indiana!" She taught in Bloomington, then Pike Township, and was thrilled to find her home at Carmel Elementary in 2009!
Mrs. Nickless has been married for 25 years, and she and Mr. Nickless have four children: 2 sons who are grown (one living in Indianapolis, and one in Denver with his wife, daughter, and new son born in June), one son graduated from Carmel High School in May and is headed to Bloomington, and one daughter who is a sophomore at Carmel High School. And the youngest in the family is Daisy, our pit bull terrier/cattle dog mix.
Mrs. Nickless loves working in her garden, exercising, hiking, fishing, and mushroom hunting with her family in the spring. A favorite vacation destination is Arizona, where she visits family and hikes in the desert and mountains. She will be traveling this year to Denver to spend time with granddaughter Emma, who will be 2 in October, and baby Luke, born June 25!
