Hi! Welcome to fourth grade. I made the move to 4th grade in the fall of 2009 after 9 years in third! However, this school year will mark 26 years in the classroom for me! 17 of those years right here at Smoky Row!! Time sure flies when you love what you do!! I still love to learn and am always willing to try something new in my classroom.
Just in case you are curious to know a little bit about that lady named Mrs. Gerth down in the fourth grade pod, here’s a little background information. My hometown is a small town in southern Indiana called Washington. Have you ever heard of it? If you follow basketball you've probably heard of the Zeller boys from there too! However, Carmel has been my home since 1999. I am a 1991 graduate of Indiana State University with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Elementary Education. I live here in Carmel with my husband Vince, our 13 year old son Landon, and 11 year old daughter Lanie. My daughter is a 7th grader at Carmel Middle and my son is a freshman at Carmel High School! Both of my kids were Smoky Row Rockets and honestly I can't believe they are both teenagers or very soon to be already....it seems like I just brought them to Kindergarten! They and are active in basketball & cheerleading and lots of other fun activities! They are very social and keep their Mom's taxi rolling!! lol... Our son received his Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do a couple of years ago and enjoys his PS4 video games and hanging out with his buddies! Our youngest daughter loves to bake and is a middle school and competitive cheerleader! She loves to tumble and jump around a lot and of course be on the phone and Ipad!! If you are in my class you will hear lots of stories about their antics. There is never a dull moment at our house. I also have a 24 year old bonus daugher, Addison, who graduated from at Ball State in the winter of 2015 and did her student teaching in Germany on an Air Force! Last but not least, we have a very active dog named Bentley that keeps us hopping! You might even see him taking me for a walk once in awhile when you are out and about!! Our family enjoys doing many things as a family, especially warm weather things. When we aren't doing fun stuff as a family, I enjoy reading, scrapbooking, walking, and shopping!
I look forward to working with my students each and every day and enjoy watching them grow and learn. I look forward to working together to make this a great year! I take great pride in being a part of the Smoky Row Community as both a teacher and parent (up until last year....both of my Rockets are now big kids.) ROCKETS ROCK!! We are on a Mission to make it a great year in 4th grade here at Smoky Row!!
