Welcome to 8th grade Language Arts at Creekside! As we start off the year, I'd like to share a little bit about myself. I grew up in Columbus, Ohio where I still visit on a reguar basis to spend time with my family, especially on weekends in the fall to catch an Ohio State football game or two. I am a graduate of Butler University (Go Dawgs!) and have called Indianapolis my home for the last nine years. This will be my fifth year teaching at Creekside, and this fall I will again be co-directing the school musical with Mrs. Johnson. Outside of school, I enjoy bike riding, cooking, playing guitar, and painting. My wife Anna teaches music at Hazel Dell Elementary in Noblesville, and although we do not yet have kids of our own, we stay plenty busy with our two-year-old Miniature Dachshund, Kona.
In the classroom I will challenge each and every one of my students to reach their potential and become readers, writers, and thinkers that are prepared to excel at the high school level next year. The skills we will learn together in English this year are vital not only in our English classroom, but are also important across all subject areas, in high school, and beyond. If you can read, write, and share ideas, you can do great things in life, and I will do my best to help us all reach our goals as a class.
This is going to be a great year, and I can't wait to meet the class of 2020 in the coming weeks!
