Family Fun Nights
This committee is super fun! We help with the two PTO family events. The first event will be October 6th (rain date 20th) and it is our awesome family tailgate! The second event is in January and it is the very popular family BINGO night. If you choose to help out with this committee, we can promise you that you will have fun!
Co-chairs: Liz Whitesitt and Rachel Fingerhut
Fifth Grade Recognition
Work closely with PTO president to raise half the PTO budget through a "virtual" fundraiser. Assemble and mail letter and forms to parents before start of school year, collect forms and payments at Back to School social and beyond, and keep records for special member levels in order to order t-shirts and coordinate with Directory and Yearbook chairpersons.
Being on the Hospitality Committee is a great - and low time commitment - way to support the TME Teachers and Staff. We stock monthly teacher/staff meetings with snacks and drinks, we coordinate an annual bus driver appreciation breakfast and arrange 2-3 catered Teacher/Staff lunches throughout the year. Committee members volunteer to bring baked goods, water, soda and snacks to drop them off at the school for the events and meetings.
Support the Kindergarten teachers in facilitating Kindergarten events throughout the year. The three main events are Kindergarten Orientation (August), Screenings for incoming Kindergarteners (May), and Kindergarten Graduation (May). Parent volunteers are critical to all these events. If you would like to be made aware of such volunteer opportunities, please contact Nikki Broccolo or Erin Czajkowski.
Math Club is composed of five grade appropriate games which involve problem solving, rational thinking, and some math. It meets once every other week right after school on Thursdays starting in October. Volunteers would be involved in teaching the games to the children. You do not have to be great in math to volunteer - you just have to be good with children.
The Towne Meadow Elementary Media Center is a wonderful, busy place with excellent resources for students, staff, and parents to share. Volunteers assist with routine circulation desk tasks, help students locate materials, shelve books, and help with organizing. Thank you for your interest in helping our students in the Media Center! Your active participation shows your children how much you value libraries, books, and reading - a powerful message!
Greet our precious kindergartners and new students the first days of school and walk them from the bus area to the classrooms. This is a simple and rewarding job that only takes a few minutes out of your day. As soon as you put your kiddos on the bus, head to TME. Sign in at the office and pick up a name tag, or I will have name tags with me. We will pass out colored pieces of paper that correspond to the name tags the kindergartners wear. As they exit the bus, we will guide them into the building and help them find their rooms. Then you are free to go about your day!
Plan and attend class parties in the fall and spring. Assist the class with teacher appreciation week in May! If you are interested in being the head room parent or just room parent for your classroom, please sign up! For more information, see the Room Parent Info page.
Renew and order the Time for Kids subscription for all classroom teachers who want it for the year. Many teachers use the monthly Time for Kids magazines to assist them with science or social studies units in the classroom.
Work with promotions company to select and design spirit wear items for each new school year. 2017-2018 designs have already been selected, but volunteers are always needed to help man tables to sell spirit wear at TME events throughout the year (back to school social, TME tailgate, etc). To volunteer, please contact Nikki Broccolo.
Maintain the TME PTO social media outlets including the website and Facebook account.
Wellness Committee Rep
The Wellness Committee is focused on getting the kids moving. We did a challenge last year where the kids got moving for 20 minutes 4 times per week. The classes competed against each other and the kids competed with each other for some prizes.
We would love to have volunteers to help take pictures throughout the year. You will be asked to attend different convocations and class parties. If that does not sound like your kind of job, you can also help with picture day. This job comes with a great reward. You have to volunteer to find out 😜
